'My brain wont let me talk about important things'

DS12 has been less and less communicative with us. I thought this was normal to an extent, and assumed he was talking to friends more and us less. There is a girl who likes him and was messaging him, I've found out he has been ignoring her. He sent her a message saying "I don't know what to do with that, my brain doesn't let me talk about important stuff".

He has also made comments to me that he "can't do communication".

His sister and Dad are diagnosed autistic, and I suspect I am ND too. Until recently I'd have said DS was the most neurotypical of us all, but I'm wondering now. He also stims a lot, tapping rhythms and shaking his hands when nervous.

Is there anything I can do to help him communicate? He shuts off when I talk to him.
