Reluctant reader recommendations

Looking for book recommendations for a reluctant 10yr old girl reader. Ideally something short as big books intimidate her, and ideally something action packed that grabs her right from the beginning.
Thanks all

My 10 year girl is currently enjoying the Scarlet and Ivy series. Not sure it would meet your criteria of short, but they're not Harry Potter long. They seem to be quite exciting and holding her attention although she says also a bit scary in places, if yours is sensitive.

Thanks both. She likes scary so I’ll check out Scarlet & Ivy thank you.
I hadn’t thought of graphic novels - great idea thank you.

She might enjoy the Charlie Bone stories.

My reluctant reader DD loves the Tom Gates books and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. They have pictures on some of the pages so it's not all walls of text, as she finds that boring!

The Pamela Butchart series - Izzy & friends is popular in my house. And, There’s some great graphic novels by Raina Teglemeier.
