Long first period

Hello, just looking for a bit of reassurance from other parents.

My 11 year old daughter started her periods 15 days ago and is still currently bleeding. She's not having any pain, or any other symptoms and her periods are not heavy.

I have spoken to a receptionist at my gp the other day and she didn't seem worried at all, but naturally with it continuing on for so long, I am worrying.

Just wondering if anyone else's daughters had long lasting first periods and that everything turned out normal.

I was hoping to speak to the gp but as usual there was no appointments and the receptionist didn't think it was anything to worrying about 🙄 I will be calling back this morning, hopefully I'll get somewhere today.

I would imagine if it's her first period then it isn't anything to worry about and it's just her body adjusting to the hormonal fluctuations (like at the other end of the scale with peri/menopause). Still speak to a GP though as she might become anaemic.

This is forever ago so I'm assuming you got some reassurance but my daughter was just the same a few months ago and I spent a lot of time googling all sorts. It stopped eventually and now she's on her third period since then without that happening. Such a nightmare for them but my daughter is fine.

I did manage to speak to my GP in the end and he reassured me that it was all normal and could be up and down for a couple of years.
My daughters period stopped after 3 weeks and hasn't returned since. I'm hoping her next one isn't as long as her first.
