Parents of girls- please give me your tips, advice and help with period pants if possible.

I've been using tampons for 20+ years so the sanitary towel world is a completely different place now!
I already had some Lillett teen packs in for her 'just in case', I've set her up a little pouch of towels with a spare pair of knickers and wipes for school.

Have been looking at period pants as I want her to carry on with sports at school as normal and not be hindered by a scrunchy towel but some of them say to wear a pad with them aswell. I've gone back and forth and my head is fried.

My 11 yr old DD uses period pants. She has some swim pants to wear under her costume and has now done a couple of swims with them since starting her periods.

For school, she wears period pants with a disposable pad for the first 2/3 days. She disposed of the pad around lunchtime and the pants see her through the afternoon.

At home, or days out as a family, we just do the pants, with my support, although she is getting more independent with them. We bought about 12 pairs from Modi Bodi and that gets us through, with plenty to spare.

I could have written oxide post, I've had period pants from next (as the design was identical to her regular pants so though that might help). Also have modi body and swim pants.

They adapt and cope really quickly. Use an app to track them. I bought some nappy bags to help with disposal x

At 10 she is unlikely to be regular or excessively heavy for a while (very much hopefully, there are exceptions). Pads shouldn’t hinder her doing sport - the ones with wings are better. Obviously will need period swimwear for swimming.

My DD started at 9 (11 now ) and she had a heavy flow right from the start so the lillet teen pads were no good . She's found period pants are the best for her . She uses the modibodi teen range including their swimwear .

DD has always used period pants. She puts a reusable pad in in the morning and removes that at lunchtime so as not to have to change her pants. It’s worked really well (4 years in).

DD started at 10y 10m 10d!

She's worn Modibodu period pants (she likes the shorts) and swimwear from the word go. She had a few pairs of Primark ones to up the numbers if she's going away and won't have washing facilities (she uses a dry bag to store the used ones). She also has some grey marl Primark ones because they don't show under her cricket whites.

Three years later she's still using the original pants, and I will have no hesitation in replacing them with bigger ones when needed.

Dd 14 likes tampons and period swimwear. She has heavier periods and the doubling up makes her feel safe. We went about this together so I suggest talking about different options with your dd and talk about period products together. Found these posts I saved - they have great period product breakdowns and are very helpful imo: www.instagram.com/p/DE8K88ITwxF/?img_index=1 https://www.instagram.com/p/DEia-mBPD5P/?img_index=1
