I am really struggling at the moment with a situation concerning my DD. She has a close friend who I believe is quite manipulative not only this but said friends mother has gotten it into her head that my daughter is a bad influence because she used some slang terms that the mother did not like ( nor did I, and I spoke to DD about it and she agreed not to use them again)the mother is now telling her daughter (amongst other things)that my DD is lazy because she doesn't play sports ( my DD is gifted academically and attends a gifted child course regularly and plays musical instruments) yes she does not play sports but she is not lazy. I feel like she is picking on my DD and looking down on us as a family. This family is considerably more well off than ours (not that it should matter) but I can't help but feel so upset that we are being looked down on... and it makes me feel so low. The friend told my daughter that they saw me at the supermarket and the mother exclaimed 'oh no! Go the other way ' to her daughter.... Am I reading too much into this or is this woman being really nasty....
