Bra measuring for pre teen

Is this still what to do? I remember when bra became necessary for me my mum took me to get measured. I think the time has come. I'm guessing it'll be like children's shoes and need remeasuring every so often?

My DD didn't want a stranger measuring her. I googled how to do it and ordered some bras from M&S. My measuring was spot on. I think the advice is to re-measure every 6 months.

This is the guidance I used from the internet.

With DD1 I took her to M&S and gave her an assortment to try on, then she let me check when on.

DD2 I took to Primark after she had tried on some of DD1’s bras from there.

Thank you - can't believe I didn't think to check online for a guide so I can do it at home! I'll do that

DD hated the thought of a stranger measuring her so I gave her a measuring tape and a set of instructions from the internet then ordered online. She got the measurements spot on. I got her to measure again 6 months later and ordered new bras, again she got it spot on, they fit perfectly.

MnS do a nice bra for pre-teens which is like a short crop top. My GD is wearing at the moment. When DD needed a bra I told her they were like shoes, and you had to go and be fitted every time.

@gingeristhenewblack43 the Glamour guide is nearly right except it seems to have missed out the E cup size.

I booked my dd an appointment at M and S. They do a first bra fit with a half hour appointment but it didn't even take that long. Very quick and very easy and she left with a pack of two soft cup first bras. She has been wearing them happily since

I have been trying to get my other dd to go for a fit too but I think she thinks it will be embarrassing. It really wasn't. She is slight and doesn't have much on top yet so hopefully will still be able to get away with a crop top for a while yet.

M&S isn't always great for measuring as they often add extra inches to the back size which gives a bra too big in the back and too small in the cup. They had me as 40C and I actually wear 36GG.

@Rocknrollstar my dd had never gone to get measured and i havent been in many years either (see above post about bad measuring by M&S). She measured at home and used the boob or bust calculator to work out a size and then we ordered her some to try on around that size and she kept what fitted.

Ive always disliked how M&S fit bras. I took DD to John Lewis. They've fab in there, measure over a t shirt if you're happier with that and have a great range of every day soft cup bras.

Neither of mine would countenance getting measured.

they have a combination of bralettes and non wired soft stretchy bra’s, so the size is easier
to judge and more forgiving.

if they need a supportive bra they go for a sports bra. Usually Nike/lululemon etc.

I only wear sports bras or bralettes/crop tops. I wouldn’t touch underwires. Instruments of torture!
