Hey everyone,
Wanted some advice or hear anyone else's experience with this kind of thing really. My daughter is 12, turning 13 in July. She hasn't had it easy in her school life. Development delay being the main cause it was only as she got to year 6 she started to really struggle and realise she wasn't able to do what others her age could. Since year 7 it's been the worst, the bullying the being behind with work at school because she isn't able to do it. She does have an EHCP but i feel like her needs still are not supported. She doesn't have an official diagnosis of anything although professionals who have worked with her think she may be dyslexic.
Anyway her current school, she doesn't have one friend which has had a bad affect on her mental health. No one will talk to her, if they do it's to be rude. She's gained weight as a result of just feeling down in the dumps which has caused her to feel worse. So I'm now helping encourage her to get out with me more and be healthier in hopes this will boost her confidence again. Thinking to pull her from school as they have admitted they don't have the facilities to support her with her needs. They suggest she goes in everyday for 2 hours and I don't think that helps her situation at all.
I don't know what to do, I just want her to feel happy with herself and have at least one good friend by her side. I don't know if there's anyway she can make friends aside from school, she's quite shy so won't do dance or anything like that like she used too but just a social thing where she could meet people her age would be great but don't know if those things even exists.
