Screen time for 11 year old

My daughter is 11. I've been trying to have some boundaries with her screentime but don't know what to do. Especially now we're in the holidays.

At the moment the only rule I have is no phone when she's in bed or when we're eating. Today her screen time was nearly 7 hours. If we're out she's fine with no phone but if we're at home it's on constantly.

I'd love to hear what other people do and how we can have better habits.

Forgot to say. I don't want to put a time limit on her phone because she only lives with me 50/50 and her father had a mental health crisis when she was in the house. So that's a concern that she needs to be able to get help.

I say to mine that I don't want to make a rule but I will if I have to.

Talk to her about what a healthy amount could be. Does she have other interests? Do you model healthy use?

Two hours a day during school hols. A third hour can be earned once 30 mins of reading done, music practice, time outside, time spent (agreeably!) with sister and once she's done something creative (not screens).

We are on day 2 so far! The time outside was a dog walk and the something creative was loom bands, if that helps?

Also, with an iPhone at least, you can set restrictions, so that calls can be made at any time (even to certain numbers if you want), whilst still disallowing other activity on the phone.

That sounds like a good system to me. My son is slightly younger and doesn't have a phone yet but this would kind of sit right with me for when he does.

Or, for every 15 minutes of a maths workbook/ educational app, you get 15 minutes to do whatever you like.

Thank you. There's some good ideas here.

She doesn't have hobbies as such. She is in a rock climbing and running club. But not hobbies she can do at home. Her use of screens has made me think about mine and Ive changed my habits.
