Ok so my son is starting High School in September and most of his friends have a phone already. I am reluctant to getting one as they just scream take me! From the older kids. But eventually I will have to so whats a good phone, what are good deals and whats the cheapest in contract? Tia

I think it depends on what you've got. If you've got an iPhone you could set him up as a child account and control it from your phone.

We went for a cheap phone or reconditioned one as the first phone with the understanding that if they looked after it, they could have an upgrade.

Smarty seem pretty cheap for SIm only deals.

We're on 1p Mobile sim-only deal and it's pretty cheap.

You can get reconditioned phones on eBay. There are so many models now - you'll have to decide what specs you want (how much memory, etc) and go from there. A Motorola or Huawei would probably be ok.
