Period fatigue

Hi all!

Dd started her period before Christmas so about 3 months ago,
Was very light the usual,
She got them again the same month,
They seem a lot heavier this month and she is absolutely wrecked, which isn't like her at all,
She seemed to have a virus last week, or so I thought, but I'm thinking maybe the symptoms were coming from her periods.
Fatigue, headache and cramps
I'm going to book for a doctor appointment next week, but just wondered if this is the usual, it been many years since I had mine,
Its just so unusual of her to be tired during the day!

Is she getting up in the night to change, or is she sleeping all night ?
I used to get crushing fatigue with my periods, it’s awful

I'm currently absolutely shattered and feel like I'm either going to stab someone or burst into tears, so I think its totally plausible!

What pain relief has she had? I feel for her my periods were so painful at that age never really eased until I went on the pill years later.

I gave her ibuprofen for the headaches but she hasn't had one in a few days thank god,
I only ever had very light periods
I always get the moods tho, she definitely inherited that from me

I would start her in multivitamins with iron.
Its also end of a term so she is likely to already be a bit tired. Dd is shattered at the moment and similar age

Ya I think I'll do that for now, see how she goes,
Hopefully just a faze with the tiredness
Periods are bad enough as it is

My 11 year old started last year - didn’t get the luxury of a light one. She gets very tired. This last one was really exhausting for her.

solomonsfish85 · 01/04/2023 22:33

It does seem common then!
She wasn't so bad today, but had football training this morning and she had to finish early as she felt like she couldn't catch her breath,
She got a fright, poor child
She is an anxious person aswel so I'm thinking hormones are ramping up the anxiety 😪

My just turned 13 year old (sorry, I know this is the preteen board but I keep forgetting we don’t belong in here since she turned 13!) has JUST started hers and has been the same. She had one this week and and she had such a bad migraine one day she just couldn’t get out of bed plus vomited with it which is unusual for her, and she’s been so exhausted she’s been sleeping till midday. She fell asleep on her bed in her clothes at 8pm the other night and was still sound asleep when we went up at 10 so we just got her to change into her pjs and do her teeth, and she said she fell straight back asleep
again and then she didn’t wake up till I woke her at 11 the next morning.
