My daughter, aged 12 and a half, started her period yesterday - I think. Not unexpected at all - she has had all the other signs of puberty for a couple of years. She went to the loo and called me up as there was blood. Apologies if TMI: it was quite mucous-y, but the blood was quite red. Since then, there's been only an extremely negligible bit of rust-colour on the pads. She was also feeling sick - nauseated - beforehand, and then proceeded to vomit fairly profusely around 20 minutes after she went to the loo. No cramps or any other type of pain. She's been more or less fine since, if a tiny bit wobbly.
Am I right in assuming that this was in fact her period? I'm working on the assumption that anything goes when it's the first time and that everything's "normal". When I started around the same age, I had no vomiting and it lasted fairly steadily and heavily for about a week and it wasn't mucous-y. I'm sure it's fine, but just looking for reassurance, I suppose.
Thanks in advance!
