My daughter has been invited to her first play date. Would it be weird if I stayed with her. She has an ehcp for speech as well although she is more understandable now.

Ask the host mum if she’d mind if you stay for a while as your dd is shy (just call her shy even if she isn’t, it’s a label people understand and are sympathetic to).

Personally I’m thrilled when parents stay for playdates, I love the company! But many mums seem to do this at age 4-5 then stop, and see the playdate as childcare for their child while they do admin. 🤷‍♀️

I think at this age it's absolutely normal to stay around for a while when you arrive, and maybe have a coffee with the other parent. Then maybe leave when you see that she is settled and happy?
