DD's first period

DD turned 10 last month. Her first period came last Monday evening, all has been fine and she's been coping well with it however a week later and it's still here! Everything I've read has said about the first period usually only lasts around 3 days. Any advice? She's my only girl so this is all new to me!

I remember my first couple of years periods lasting at least a week! In my twenties (when off pill) they settled down to 3 days.

Mine have always last around 5 to 7 days and were like that since I started at 12. I would only be concerned if it was heavy bleeding every day and didn't seem to be going lighter. Take her the doctors if this is the case.

My periods were pretty heavy for a whole week from when they started until I got to my 30's. Now it's 4 or 5 days.

I started at 11 and they always lasted 8-9 days 🙈 my sister by contrast would be done in 4 days. I wouldn't worry too much as long as it's getting lighter as the days go on x

Thanks for all the replies! It lasted 8 days, poor girl ☹️ have read that sometimes after the first period they aren't very regular so there may not be another for a few months so I'm hoping that's the case!
