Wildly irregular periods

Dd is 12, year 8. She started her period 20months ago. In that time her cycles have ranged from 14-50 days and everything in between. Twenty periods and yet no two cycles have been the same length. She's under endocrinology anyway as she started developing at 8 and we have a checkup again next month. Last time we went they did an ultrasound to rule in/out pcos but that was negative. I know she's only 12 and we were told two years to regulate but we're on the cusp of those two years now and to continue to vary between 14-50 days is not remotely close to regulating. In between hospital appointments I've also spoken to the GP about this who is very quick to say "wait for the consultant's decision" but they've talked about dd going on the cocp to help. I definitely see the benefits but has anyone else's daughter gone on it as a preteen purely for period issues? Thank god for modibodi, she basically wears them every day to avoid being caught out.
