Pre puberty weight

My DD is 11 and starting to fill out and her tummy has been quite rounded for a while, I'm not overly worried as she's active and eats well and hopefully when she grows in height it'll balance out. However, her face/neck over the last year seems to have got quite chubby, almost a double chin. From behind she looks normal weight and size for her age.
I've not read anything about changes in face shape pre puberty and wondered if anyone had experienced similar?

My DD is 12 and has been like this for a year or so. I was getting quite worried but when I actually weighed her, she was well within the healthy weight range for her height. She does look round in her face and tummy though.

She hasn't started her periods yet. I have noticed with her friends that those who have suddenly seem to get taller and slim down, especially round the face, around the time their periods begin. I am just trying to keep an eye on portion size and keeping up activity levels. I remember having "puppy fat" around the same age and then slimmed down later.

Yes I'm hoping that's the case. Her face looks so different to when she was little. I can't remember what I was like that age.

I was like this when I started secondary school. I have my year 7 photo and I have a very rounded face and double chin. I went on to be a very slim 15/16/17 year old. PLaese don’t do what my mum did and draw my attention to it. She never displayed my school photo at that age but did my brothers and when I asked why she pointed out out how unflattering mine was and thought she was doing me a favour not having it out to embarrass me 🫤

Oh thats not nice, thankfully she isn't aware of it in photos etc.
I suppose its different for each child how puberty affects them, some of her friends are tall and thin and dont hold any pre-puberty weight at all and she is starting to get self conscious about her body shape.

I had really chubby chin through my secondary school years. I was so self concious of it and wore my hair down even though it was against school rules. I thought I imagined it, but looking back at school photos it was real 😂. I also thought I was fat, but these days would have been one of the slimmer ones. I'd grown our of it my 16/17 and grown back into it now I'm middle aged.

My daughter is 12, 5'4 and 7 stone. She started her period a year ago
