Getting angry when gaming

My 12 year old DS gets so angry when gaming! Only when playing FIFA, not any other game. He bangs stuff, stamps, shouts/screams etc - it’s horrible to listen to! Should we be banning it completely or should we leave him to it?! At the moment we give him one warning then he has no screens for rest of day if it happens again. He’s very competitive but doesn’t get like this for anything else. He’s pleasant and polite most of the rest of the time. Part of me feels it’s a good outlet for his emotions then the other thinks no way should a 12 year old be getting so stressed over video games!

Does he like football generally? I'd personally remove the game.

You need to lay down the rule that this behavior is unacceptable. If he can't control his emotions, that game goes out of window.

my ds does this and has broken numerous controllers etc. I remove the game, and he has to save up for replacements. I have told him categorically that he is getting no more tech until he learns to respect it - even things like remotes for the TV and PC mice are just dropped on the floor. I wouldn't just accept as part of the natural order no. It doesn't help that there are scores of youtube videos of grown adults doing the "rage quit smash things up" schtick like its cool or funny. I had to explain to my DS that these are staged for effect and / or they are moronic twats who should get a proper job (or words to that effect)

It’s bizarre it’s always FIFA! My son’s quite a bit older but I much prefer listening to him play GTA of all things (which I was quite wary about him getting) as he’s just in fits of giggles with his mates playing that. Fifa seems to cause rage and we have a strict rule if he shouts once more after a first warning it goes off.
