Hi I'm after some support my 12 year old stepson is being very challenging at the moment and I'm after some advice. He is almost refusing to do schoolwork and before half-term he just refused to go until his teacher actually came and got him. He has smashed the ipad on which all his homework and school apps were, the school gave him a laptop but apparently this is now in his locker to which he has lost all the keys, we download the apps onto phones and he changes the password. He is getting extra support at school but it sems like he just doesn't pay any attention.
He has quite a temper too and if challenged on anything he will lose it and lock himself away or run off often for long periods. His diet and personal hygiene are awful. He refuses to brush his teeth or shower and the only thing he will drink is coke, we tried taking it away he just refused to drink!
We have wondered if he has special needs but then he doesn't fit anything fully. He is able to concentrate easily on Dr Who and will sit unprompted for hours and fill notebooks with stories or pictures of Dr Who so probably not ADD. He is also incredibly difficult to diagnose anything because he will mimic very easily for example I hurt my knee recently and all of a sudden his knee was hurting and its the worst pain ever and hes had it for years with all these symptoms then its just gone and hes forgotten about it.
Any advice in terms of getting him support or getting him to at least try at school would be appreciated.
