Where do you buy 12 year old girls clothes?

So we're too big now for m&s and John Lewis kids stuff. We like the jump suit type style.
Where do we get good quality clothes for girls of this age - not too young or too tarty?

The 12 year old in my life likes H&M and Next.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 29/08/2021 13:09

We did well in H&m recently, DD likes basics and plain colours though. Jumpsuits maybe newlook or topshop or asos? DD is 11 but tall and curvy (boobs and bum) so adult small or 8-10 work well. We can't buy kids clothes as they aren't really designed for an hourglass figure and she's taller than a few of her teachers!

H&M, New Look, River Island and JD Sports for us.

hennybeans · 29/08/2021 13:46

We've got a few things in the closing sale at Gap recently, women's xsmall.
Also H&M. But it is a tricky age because DD is not quite adult size but not kid size either. Every thing needs to be tried on.

Gwenhwyfar · 29/08/2021 14:00

I was wearing adult clothes at that age. I was too short, but I still am now - didn't grow much in that direction.

Passthecake30 · 29/08/2021 16:05

Matalan and Asda for thick leggings/jeggings (age 13-14), Matalan teen range for denim shorts and cropped tshirts, sports direct for hoody’s, H&M and Primark ladies size 6 for tshirts.

Uniqlo is also good for neutral clothes with no logos. Their smallest adult size fits my 12yr old.

Threeisme · 31/08/2021 07:10

The only children's range that is agreeable to us both (I do put my foot down but pick my battles!) is H & M. Its adult clothes from everywhere else either because of size (me) or style (her). Matalan and New Look child sizes seem really small in length.

tootingbeclido · 31/08/2021 07:14

My dd 12 likes h&m as well.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 31/08/2021 07:14

DD is 11 but a size 10, she's 5 ft 7 and not particularly interested in fashion. I normally pick her up, t shirts, jeans and shorts from Next, qwertee for t shirts for her birthday (they are pricey with delivery ) or Hollister for trackies and lounge wear.

Philandbill · 31/08/2021 07:15

H and M. But she is very much a jeans and plain t-shirt girl so that may not work for you. Older DD also bought from Next at that age and some New Look, but quite a lot of picking through the less appropriate clothes....

converseandjeans · 31/08/2021 07:16

New Look
H&M for jeans/leggings
Vans
Roxy
Hype

imip · 31/08/2021 07:22

Dd11 is obsessed with fashion. I also have a just turned 13yo with a v womanly figure. They like urban outfitters, Monki and weekday. It’s bloody expensive! Thank God for school uniform!

Itsanewdayforme · 31/08/2021 07:24

Zara Kids and Mango Girl

Cuppaand2biscuits · 31/08/2021 07:36

We've had to move up to adults size 8-10 for DD. She likes New Look, George, Sainsbury's and Shien.

Moistflaps · 31/08/2021 18:37

I'm having the same dilemma and wondering about the hype lucky dip

irresistibleoverwhelm · 31/08/2021 18:44

My niece likes H&M - there doesn’t seem much out there for that age otherwise. I remember it being the same for me as a young teenager! There was nothing really between 11-ish and starting to wear things from Warehouse and Oasis about 15 or so. It’s a shame that not many shops seem able to come up with decent basics that aren’t either too babyish or too old for the 12-15 age bracket!

Rainbowshit · 31/08/2021 18:46

DD is 12 and in adult size 6 for jeans and leggings. She's always had long legs. She shops at H&M mostly.

BeaBeaBuzz · 31/08/2021 18:47

Zara, H&M, jack wills, hollister, occasionally next

BeaBeaBuzz · 31/08/2021 18:47

Mango

longerevenings · 31/08/2021 18:48

DD quite likes Abercrombie Kids.

Crabwoman · 31/08/2021 19:01

Adult size 6-8 at New look, Zara and H&M mostly.

HarryBoa · 31/08/2021 19:07

Whenever I've bought New Look clothes for my DN we've always found the tops incredibly short, even when the style is not supposed to be cropped. Strange.

Christmasfairy2020 · 03/09/2021 19:53

Primark.ladies section and h and m ladies section

Ronniechops · 03/09/2021 19:58

My DD likes Abercrombie & Fitch Kids, Superdry fleeces & Gap xs ladies. We go to the outlets and they are quite reasonable, or Vinted.
