10 year old ok to wax legs?

My DD (10) has seriously hairy legs (and arms) which are very dark.
She is really really conscious of it and is getting teased at school. She won’t even wear skirts, dresses or shorts because of it 😞.
She has asked me if she can start shaving which I am obviously dead set against but do you think it is ok for me to wax them for her?
I didn’t start shaving till about 14 but it’s because I didn’t care and I was a lot lighter colouring than she is.
She’s at the end of year 5 so at an age where she’s starting to really think about her body etc.

Why would you say no to shaving but yes to waxing? Doesn't make sense to me

With very dark hair, you have a long period of obvious stubble before you can wax again. Shaving can be done as often as needed/wanted, is less painful and is something she can learn to manage herself.

Why are you "obviously" against shaving? My DD 14 has been using an electric razor for a couple of years now. It avoids any cuts if thats whats worrying you?

Why do think waxing is preferable to shaving? I think shaving is best for preteens as it’s painless and less chance of skin irritation and ingrown hairs flaring up.
Have you also considered hair bleaching for arms and legs?

Yes, what’s the problem with shaving? It’s unlikely she’ll cut herself if you teach her properly how to do it. She’d probably prefer to shave herself than have her mum wax her legs for her.

Waxing is painful, you’ll do one maybe two strips and have to end up shaving anyway

Why not shaving? Doesn't hurt whereas waxing really does. Or are you keen that she gets the message that females must suffer?

Get a philips lumea, then she can shave and it will keep her legs hair free for much longer. So sad our little girls have to suffer this, but I do understand and remember feeling like that too.

Definitely teach her to shave correctly. Alternatively use depilatory cream.
I do second the recommendation of the Phillips Lumea though, it's excellent and shouldn't harm any skin so age isn't an issue.

Too tired to read the whole thread, sorry. But beauty industry professional here. Waxing best. Not painful, she will enjoy the time too if she can have a basic Mani at the same time. No shame in hair, it's just not comfortable in the heat.

Why are you so against shaving? My DD has been shaving on and off since she had just turned 8. She dances so her legs are often on show.
I brought her some decent razors and some shaving foam. Showed her how to do it and that was it. She doesn't shave all the time but occasionally she feels like it.

My interpretation of you being against shaving is that you think 10 should be far too young to worry about teenage issues. I can understand your position to still see her as a child and not rush into all that stuff. I think it's hard for parents to see their little ones seemingly grow up too quickly.
However - and I say this with sensitivity to how you're feeling - the potential scars incurred from that feeling of self-consciousness about her body are far worse than giving her an electric shaver. Our aim is about raising strong confident girls. A shaver will help with that.
To be honest, I don't think she necessarily wants to 'grow up too fast by shaving. I actually think she wants to be like all her other pre-pubescent friends who, presumably, don't have as much body hair yet.

Lots of posters on here have no idea why shaving darl hairy legs is a bad idea... the dark hairs will become thick and darker and eventually as soon as she shaves, she'll get stubble Regrowth by 5pm!
Waxing is a far better alternative.
My mum started letting me wax my legs around 12, but I see no issues for a 10yr old.
