9 year old growing breasts.

My daughter turned 9 in March. Since she was nearly 8, she started having breast buds, they would come and go and usually one side at a time. She saw a consultant who wasn't worried about it and said she's not actually started puberty yet. I was 9 when my breasts started growing too and period started age 11 in secondary school.

She is only in year 4 and just seems so young to grow breasts . I guess I'm not ready for my girl to grow up yet!

Does it seem young to start growing breasts in year 4 and has anyone experienced any issues or have any tips through experiences with your own daughters you could pass onto me so I can be supportive and prepared?

No it's normal my y6 child was same. She is 5ft2 size 7 shoe and 8st11. Has breasts as well and she wears barletts as they r comfier and more fashionable. Nil period yet but all friends have started

My daughter is y6 (11 next month). She's 5'2, 6st 5lb, size 4 shoe, had breast development at 8 and began periods 3 months ago.

She's literally the same age you were! So, not a problem.

Definitely nothing to worry about OP. I was wearing a bra at 9 (I was a C cup by the time I was 11!) and got my first period when I was 9 also.
My mum was 11 and my sister was 10 so think it just ran in our family to hit puberty early!

Same as my daughter, she is 10 now and small breaststroke and stated her periods a couple of months ago.

Totally normal. You did too, so she's like you. Why are you surprised by this?

My DD is 9 next week and is the same as your DD. My 12yo was the same and didn't start periods til the week before her 12th birthday. (Great birthday present 😢)
