DD 8 has developed a breast bud behind one nipple. She came to show me this morning and is quite anxious about it. Does anyone have any recommendations for age appropriate books or videos to help explain changes that her body might start going through. They do the standard PSHE lessons at school with the big changes but I’d forgotten about things like this and smaller changes.
I’ve had a look on line and most of the books seem to be aimed at slightly older children - I want something that just covers changes to her body. We have talked about how babies are made etc but in an age appropriate way - some of the books cover things like bjs etc which she doesn’t need to know about yet.

The Care and Keeping of You part 1 is good, it's aimed at 8-10 year old girls. It is American, so has several 'american-isms', but both my DDs seemed to like it.

Can second that one. It's a great book Smile

Thanks both! I’ll take a look.

Yep I bought this for my dd too. It's very clearly written...she has sn and I wanted something which made puberty seem less scary...she really liked this book.

Thank you, looking at some of the books they seem way too grown up! I’ll try this one.

There’s a book called Hair in Funny Places by Babette Cole which I use to teach about puberty in my Y4 class. There’s lots of PDFs of the full book online.
