10yr old DS attitude

I'm so fed up of my 10 year olds attitude. He speaks to me like crap and always has a snarky comment to hand.
He's argumentative and I have noticed will say 'no' to Everything, even if he does it 5 minutes later?! He can be quite lazy too, and often will try and refuse to put something away, brush his teeth or put his plate in the sink (though will most of the time relent after arguing about it)
It's so draining.
It's not always like this, sometimes he's in a lovely mood and we have a wonderful time together, but they feel few and far between at the moment 😔

I have a 4 month old but he was like this before he came along. I do try and do things with him 1:1

does he have time on electronics? I would be taking 10 minutes of this time away each time he spoke to me like crap/says a snarky comment/refuses to put his plate away etc. Start with 1hr30mins for example. I also found at that age that saying no electronic time, aside from TV, monday to friday, helped too.

He sounds exactly like my 10 year old - it's relentless. Today when he said that he wished his dad had got custody of him rather than me I silently agreed - not that I mean it but wow he pushes buttons.
My ds has managed to get an ipad ban for the whole week now due to massive rudeness. It's exhausting... feel your pain OP
