I have an eight year old son who asks more and more questions as time passes, I am just answering these questions as he poses them but would also like suggestions for any books aimed at this sort of age range that you've personally found helpful? Thanks in advance.

I found the usborne books 'what's happening to me?' and others by usborne useful. My kids often picked them up in their own time just to check sections of it... So they didn't have to ask me if not an appropriate time....not that I mind explain stuff.

That's exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of, thank you. Meant to add in the OP that ones he could look at by himself would be useful as well! Thanks again.

I would have time to talk him through stuff but one like that he could look at at his leisure as well is ideal.

We also have the usborne book which really worked for us.

One thing I would be careful with, avoid books issued in the US. I accidentally ordered some from Amazon UK and found them quite strange. Very cagey about actual body functions (I would call them prude) and a lot of focus on personal grooming like shaving, which clothes to wear and how to deal with boys.

We had the one orange recommended. What I like about it is it also mentions what is going on with the opposite sex too. So we had the boy version of What is Happening but I liked the fact it talked about what girls are going through too, just in far less detail.
