Bra size 11 years old

My daughter is 11 and tall and broad. Already fully into puberty, periods etc.

To summarise her body shape - Wears adult size 10, prob about 5ft 4 (just a guess not measured her) very muscular build, can cycle 20 miles no problem, climbs and sails so big thighs and booty. A little overweight right now from lockdown snacking!

I noticed her bras were small and was a bit shocked as she was wearing a 34C which seemed big so I measured her today.....twice....on 2 different calculators....she is a 32F!!!!

WTF??!! I'm so shocked! My fist thought was is there something wrong with her? I mean she looks like a 15 year old!!

I don't really know what I'm asking just in shock! I'd like to think I'm not alone but seems unlikely!

32F is not that big. An F cup on 32 back is smaller than an F cup on larger back sizes.

It's probably bigger than average for an 11 year old but she may just have developed early and won't necessarily end up huge boobs especially if she's well into puberty already. But she might continue growing - who knows? But there isn't much you can do about it other than getting her a well fitting bra Smile

Have you checked booborbust for measuring? A 32 back size for a size 10 would be quite big.

That does seem rather big, my 10.5 year old hasn’t even developed breast buds yet. Perhaps a visit to your gp (or call) might be of benefit.

daffodilrosedaisy · 09/06/2020 20:44

I wouldn’t worry too much, I went from a B to an F cup between 14 and 15, people develop at different ages

CrystalMaisie · 09/06/2020 20:49

Go to the gp?? And make her self conscious about something that’s totally normal?
My dd developed early, was a similar size at that age but with a 30 back, could t get a m and a teen bra to fit (all way too big in the back and too small in the cup). 5 year later is still a similar size.
It just sounds big because too many women are wearing the wrong bra size and see anything over a D as being massive, which it is not.

nevergoingoutagain · 09/06/2020 21:04

I measured her on boob or bust they do an adjustment for teen sizes to alllow for growing room. She does have a very broad back and shoulders, same as me.

I bought her last bras before xmas and I think she was prob a cup then but she fit ok in the C and she didn't want to try the D. I was just trying different bras that time.

It's so difficult as she doesn't like anything but plain T-shirt bras which are always sold out in F cups. She also has a yellow shirt fur secondary school in December so insists on only flesh coloured bras. I managed to get some from next as well as a sports bra as I almost cried when I saw her running the other day.

It just feel so cruel, she's always been tall and stocky which made her self conscious and now this too!

@crystalmaisie thanks that's reassuring that your daughter developed early but then stopped.

I stupidly googled and found there are actually some conditions related to very large and fast growing breasts in puberty.

Hopefully she's just a super early developer!

I just feel sad for her as she's desperate to blend in! Never gonna happen!

M&S do some plain tshirt bras in her size

Also, definitely take a look at Freya, Brastop and Pourmoi

(I'm a 30G which sounds ridiculous but isn't really that big)

bendmeoverbackwards · 14/06/2020 23:01

Can someone recommend a reliable bra size calculator? My dd was wearing 32B which are too small so I tried 32C and she says they are too tight.

Comefromaway · 14/06/2020 23:06

If she’s a clothes size 10 that sounds about right.

GreenTulips · 14/06/2020 23:13

Boob or bust online calculator

greengoose21b · 14/06/2020 23:24

Asda is the place for plain t-shirt bras in an F cup. Only about £4/5 too. I spent a lifetime in £70 Empreinte bras, but a bit of weight loss got me down to a 34F and they were a revelation.

NeedingCoffee · 14/06/2020 23:26

Definitely bravissimo for lots and lots of choice including cool sports bras, flesh coloured etc. I’m a 30F - 32E depending on brand, 5’4 and about size 10 so probably very similar to your daughter in build and size.

NeedingCoffee · 14/06/2020 23:28

Oh, and the bravissimo vest tops with inbuilt bras are brilliant too and ideal for young teens in summer I would have thought.

Hi op I sound pretty similar to your daughter, I reached pretty much my full adult size in year 6, started periods at 10. I remember I was 5ft3 with size 34D boobs and I'm now only 5ft5 and 36DD. My mum thought I was going to end up around 6ft and was really worried about how fast I was growing but I guess I just did all my growing early.
I hated my boobs throughout year 6 and 7 as I got teased for them but after that I was fine. Hope your daughter is ok x

theBelgranoSisters · 15/06/2020 08:35

MyDD sounds a lot like yours @nevergoingoutagain...!! 11.5 for periods-tall and strong, shes now 13 5'8,size 14 and 36DD- completely normal, they grow at their own rate but she was deffo the one that used to stand out in class a bit-the others are starting to catch up now tho!! Grew her boobs in the space of 18 mths -ill admit i was suprised,my paltry b-cups took a few years to eventuate : ) thats the other side of the family, genes-wise ..she likes to wear a supportive crop top in bed too..something ive never had to think of...i had do online research and find some good seam free-sports bras as she will not wear wire..

LemonSunshineLlama · 20/07/2020 07:37

I know I probably shouldn't be on here, but I'm a child the same age as your daughter. I am 12. I have measured myself properly a couple times, and I either need a 24E or a 26DD. I now have two issues though: 1, I can't find any shops that stock this size, either online, or not. 2, even if I can, I will definitely NOT be able to convince my mum that is what I need. I have two. Two mums, I mean. One who has never worn a bra in her life, and one who thinks that I'm not old enough for a bra at all. They would start complaining too quickly for me to even begin explain that a 26dd is equal to a 32a, which is what everyone else in my class is wearing. Does anyone know of any solutions to either of my problems?
