I can remember my first periods being like that. Also being very heavy. Also massively irregular. In fact, I can remember worrying about it so much and being terrified about when I'd come on and people knowing. I can remember feeling like I'd always have to worry and they'd never settle down. It was miserable!! So happy to start tacking the pill at 16 and feeling so in control!!

Thanks @GlennRheeismyfavourite I can't remember that far back!
I had awful ones late in my teens, being sick with it.

DD started last month. Lasted 7/8 days and next one showed up 31 days later.

From age 13 to 40, mine lasted 6 - 7 days. As a teen, they were irregular but when they did show up, they lasted 7 days - just med to light flow but on and on and on. From my 20s onwards, whether on or off the pill, they lasted 7 days and were pretty well 30 days apart.

About 8 years ago, after 2 children, they changed dramatically: heavy flow, sometimes scarily so, and shorter: 3 - 5 days rather than the full 7
