when to expect dd's periods ....

hiya ladies,

this may be a but tmi, but i need guidance

my dd1(12) had a growth spurt about 3 months ago, she eats double what she ate a year ago, started having a fair bit of clear thick discharge about 5/6 months ago and has A-cup bras
However, all the girls on my side of the family and my dh's all started their periods 14-16 y/olds

anyone got approximations for her periods starting??

Get a period kit together for her, pads and pants and tampons. Talk her through it, and it'll happen when it happens.

Girls are starting earlier (youngest in my daughter's year had hers at 9). I started at 11 and so did my daughter. No growth spurt or change in eating but she was definitely developing.

Lots of threads here about good period pants for teens, never tried but they seem to be the in thing at least on Mumsnet!

Odds are that she'll start earlier than your/our generation did, but it's totally up to nature. Best be ready and make sure she knows how to use her sanpro.

Slight tangent but I've just started reading Period Power by Maisie Hill and wish I had read it when I was a teenager! Might be of interest to you and/or your daughter. Pretty sure I remember reading that breasts and discharge can appear years before a period, and then it can be years before periods are regular or close to regular.

I think 2 years after breasts is typical
