Friendship issues

Ds2 has just started secondary school. He has always found dealing with friendship issues difficult.

At primary there was a cliquey group of boys - bright, articulate, good at sport - who ds2 always wanted to impress. He ended up getting into trouble because his method was 'playing the fool' or 'being naughty' to impress them or make them laugh. We talked through this endlessly and I did raise it with the teacher as in part the school did not help as the group were 'the chosen ones' for all sporting events and school productions. I hoped things would settle at secondary.

Unfortunately one of the boys his now being subtly unkind. Sometimes friendly, sometimes blanks ds, sometimes unkind. Unfortunately he is in a large proportion of ds's lessons and in the same sport club after school. The unkindness often happens on the way between lessons so ds2 is starting to find other ways to get from one lesson to another to avoid this lad. This is not always possible and both boys are in the same friendship group.

Initially I thought it was just related to the sport group and I spoke to the teacher who had a general word with all the lads and this currently has worked for just the stuff around the sport. All the other stuff is still ongoing and ds2 cape home in tears yesterday.

I have to say the mum blows hot and cold with me as well - Randomly happy to chat like I'm a good friend other times looks like she is trying to escape.

So WWYD - speak to the tutor, give ds2 some strategies to deal with it, speak to the other boys mum??????
