Shoes for year 7

My dd starts a new secondary school in September, will be year 7.

We are currently looking at shoes, need to be lace up style which she is happy with and has had for the last 2 years.

She has had the shoes in patent black and would like them again, but has had a wobble about whether year 7s and above still wear patent or if it’s all leather.

So I guess that’s my question, is patent cool or seen as babyish? She’s asked my advice and I’m clueless!

Check the school rules to see if they are allowed patent before you agonies too much, you may find the decision is made for you anyway by the school rules.

i think a lot of the year 7s at dd's school have leather rather than patent. a very common style is the leather black converse. hope that helps a little x

There is no rule against patent, I wish there was so the decision was made for us! Currently looking at styles online and she’s pretty much decided on a brogue type shoe, it’s just the material.

I’m leaning towards leather to be on the safe side!

Yeah just try and fit in in that sort of way I just asked my 12 year old and he said no way in he'll and that I better not have brought some for her

Just asked DD1 (just finished year 7) she had patent at the star5 of the year and had leather from part way through, but only because they didn’t have her size in patent.

She says she has no idea whether her friends (apart from best friend) wear leather or patent.

She likes patent as don’t need polishing

My daughter had leather kickers in year 7 and patent kickers in year 8 x
