Can anyone tell me what this app is? I've previously been very strict with my daughters phone and not let her have any social media. She lost her phone, and her useless father promised to get her a new one for her birthday. He went against my wishes and instead of getting her a second hand iPhone in budget so I could stick with the parental safety settings and approve or reject all new app requests and navigate it easily to check everything is ok and safe, he got a second hand full of porn awful android that is impossible for me to navigate. So I've admittedly not been as thorough with checking her phone since she got it.

I knew she had this app and she told me it was a story writing app, she's on it a lot 'writing stories'. I've just checked her phone and on it there is a news feed and friend requests, comments, and sections for fan fiction, which has set alarm bells ringing for me. I told her I'd have to delete it while I check it out. She tells me one of her friends has it on higher settings and it blocks friend requests etc and please can she keep it if I do that. I've tried to change settings can't see any options. I don't even understand what this app really is. Anyone have any ideas? Is the fan fiction as harmless as she claims? Hmm

Why not look at it on the play store? It does look like it's for reading and writing stories

It seems to be mostly fan fiction but some of it is very dodgy (ie porny) and you seem to be able to chat with other members and some of those members say very bizarre creepy stuff. I discovered my ten year old had signed up with my email and date of birth. When I contacted them they deleted her ('my') account but emails from them do turn up every so often. Get rid of it. Not suitable for pre/younger teens.

It is a writing app, you can talk to people in the comments and chat on it. It can be relatively harmless but there is also a lot of smut on it. I know this because I've used it from being around 15/16 f(I'm 24 now) or writing fanfiction as have a lot of my friends. One of whom effectively writes werewolf porn Hmm. I'd say let her keep the app but check what she is reading and writing. If you go onto a laptop or computer or even the website rather than the app there is sure to an FAQ page where you can find out how to work the settings. I'd also advise you to take the phone to a phone shop that shes with and ask an attendant to show you how to use it.
