Fireworks 'too noisy'

My daughter age 10 has always been frightened of loud noises especially fireworks but each year insists on going to see them with the rest of the family. It usually ends in complete meltdown, tears and tantrums which can unfortunately be very embarrassing! I was thinking about noise cancelling ear defenders for her but looking for experience and advice before I buy anything. Please help!

these go inside the ear so it won't be too obvious she is wearing them (if thats something she will be worried about)
