Bike helmets

My 11 year old DMS has started going out on his bike with friends. Today, out of the 5 of them he was the only one wearing a helmet (much to his annoyance!). I wouldn't feel happy with him going out without one but what does everyone think?

Well for me a helmet is non negotiable as it is a safety thing.
