My 9 year old son talks about suicide

Now this may sound strange but my son talks regularly about suicide. Not in a negative but almost like it's a good thing. His grandparents have passed and so talks about how he can't wait to go and see them, he's also talking a lot about the war at the minute and apparently ( I don't know this) how hitler killed himself which he seems quite fascinated about although he is covering the war at school. He's also talking about how the film The suicide squad is about people killing themselves. ( I've never watched it so don't know this either) and honestly I'm worrying about his mental health. Is this normal for a single switched on child or should I be worried???? He's happy go lucky, well and full of the joys of spring otherwise. Just some of these things he talks about I find it rather unnerving.
From a worried Mum. X

Is he online without your assistance? He could be watching all sorts on Youtube.

Has he seen this film somewhere? Suicide Squad is UK age rated 15. It shouldn't be seen by a 9 year old.

He told me someone at school told him about the film and no he hasn't seen it and doesn't have access to anything he shouldn't.

Hi OP - He clearly hasn't seen it, it's nothing to do with Suicide.
Personally I think it's fairly normal for a child (especially a bright child) to be interested in this subject, I know that sounds wrong but if they're studying War in general and/or WW2 in particular I'd assume they will have discussed the belief that Hitler committed suicide in his bunker at the end of the war and the huge loss of life in a World War.
Does he talk about him committing suicide or just the subject in general, I think sometime young kids just need that reassurance that if they weren't there they would be missed by lots of people, I have in the past listed all the people who would be affected (sad) if my DS, same age as yours, were to die. Presumably if his Grandparents have died recently then perhaps death is something he is suddenly having to come to terms with.

He clearly hasn't watched Suicide Squad it's about anti heros from Batman, ie Harley Quinn etc, nothing to do with suicide at all so don't worry about that.
