Please help me out here if you can

My son is just 13. Until yesterday I thought him the most perfect, adorable, respectable son anyone could wish for.
I've discovered he has spent... wait for it... £537 on games in the last couple of months without me realising (my account details were on his device because ages ago I ordered something for him).
I am absolutely furious, stunned and in a state of disbelief. He would have seen the prices when ordering, several of the games were like £50 or £60.
Of course I have given him what for (plenty of yelling and questions) but it's left me distraught.
His Dad has been out of work and we've had to use our pension money to get by, so for him to do this is a double insult.
I have told him he will have to sell all his devices (but to be honest, we won't get much for them). I can't think of the right way to punish this though I did think I should make HIM paint the kitchen and hallway.
Any thoughts please.

Should add that a huge amount of it was spent on one day when we were on holiday and I hadn't looked at the bank account for a few days. Only found it when we got home.

Oh god, I'd be absolutely livid. Is there any way you can get a payment back, given his age?

Where has he bought the games from? If from apple you can contact them from the notification email and ask them to cancel the ordered games and refund the transaction and there is a procedure you can go through. I can't remember the exact wording but I had to do it when my daughter did this (although she was only 8 or 9 at the time). Worth giving it a try but you won't always be successful.

Btw you can change the settings so that you have to input your apple Id each time you buy something, I have all of my devices set up like this since that incident.
