Preteens periods advice

My preteen started her periods 6 months ago. every month has been quite irregular but this time she is 3 and a half weeks late. Because it's so long ago that I was this age I can't remember how long it takes for the cycle to start becoming regular.

Anyone else's daughter just been through puberty and can advise please?

No experience on my DD front but my own periods arrived really early and they were very irregular (and long) for years. In fact I think they only became regular artificially when I started on the pill in my 20s.

Sorry, don't know how helpful that is, as I didn't seem to fit the 'standard' at the time.

How is she now @cheesecadet? I've got a funny feeling my Preteen is building up to her first period.

It does take a year for them to become irregular - any longer than that and then you need to ask for a referral as it could be pcos etc.

To become regular

Mine didn't become regular until my 20s. I started late (14.5).

Mine were regular from the very first one, until a couple of years ago (peri-meno). I started really late though. My friends were a mix of regular to only two or three a year at the beginning. My own dd has just started hers at 12, so I'm wondering how hers will pan out.
