Allowance - into. bank account?

I'm thinking that my DD will need an allowance once she's at secondary school in September, we've always been a bit hit and miss with pocket money as there's never really been a need and I hate them taking a pound straight to the shops and spending it all on sweets.
A thread I just read suggests £1 per month per year of age so £11/ month which seems fine.
My next question is how to give it to her?
I like the thought that it would go into an account with a cash point card to teacher about budgeting though obvs £11 is not much and I suspect that she'd "not have any cash" when she needed it
What do you all do, I'm curious?

My two both get £25 per month into their bank accounts. You can get accounts with debit cards from age 11. They tend to save it for bigger things.

We transfer by DD into their bank accounts, and then act as "banker", giving them cash when they need it, and transferring it across from their account to ours. We have mobile banking, so they can ask us to check their balance and then say how much they want. We give them cash from our wallet and transfer across. We did it this way after soooo many incidences of them losing their purse/money etc.

I can't see us changing the way they do it until they have enough money that taking £10 out at a time from a cash point is sensible. Most of their current purchases are 15p lollies etc so they need to access small amounts rather than larger ones.

Ours are transferred by standing order each month. They have leftover birthday/Christmas money in their wallets for smaller purchases

I've just set up an account for my 11 year old. I found Natwest the easiest. No more searching around for change. He and his sister get £1 for every school year per week so he gets £7 per week in year 7.

He gets to evaluate what he spends money on so decided £10per month Spotify was worth it but not over £100 for new Nikes.
