Puberty is hitting hard!!

My 10yo dd is being walloped by puberty - pubic hair, whiffy pits, spots, and greasy hair - and now her period has started too! She's brilliant, pretty much taking it in her stride, but the spots are bothering her a bit, and her hair seems to be greasy again almost straight after washing it. The problem is, she has very sensitive skin, so I'm struggling to find a face wash that will help her without a) antagonising her skin, or b) cost me a fortune! As for her hair, it's very thick so she needs conditioner just so she can get a brush through it, and gets very greasy at the roots, but she seems to be getting dandruff too! Poor bugger. If anyone has any product suggestions, they'd be gratefully received!

The Superdrug tea tree range helped sort out my daughter's newly hormonal skin problems. Not sure how it would be on sensitive skin, but it might be worth a try, and it's not at all expensive. She uses the facial wash, but also a spot treatment stick thing, so even if the wash turns out to be unsuitable for your daughter, she might still be able to use the spot stick for individual break-outs.

As for hair, she's just had to get used to having to wash her hair more often.

What I will say, by way of offering hope, is that after a period of maybe three months where her greasy hair and spots were quite prominent and I was a bit worried that they might start getting her down, it all seems to have settled down a bit. Well, quite a lot actually. Maybe after the initial hormone surge, things will settle down for your daughter too.

Aah thanks for that, I'll have a look see at the Superdrug stuff. As for hair, she has to wash it every day, but now I'm wondering if that's too often! I hope it all settles down a bit soon; I'd forgotten how much it is to deal with, all at once. Thank you for replying

Maybe try a dry shampoo to see if you can stretch it to two days: washing your hair every day is such a chore. (I may be projecting here... )

I hear ya! I do mine pretty much every day and it's such a ball ache.

Try Aussie spray conditioner. You spray it lightly on towel dry hair and do not rinse off. I avoid parting. Many conditioners make my hair greasy/lank in 24 hours but with this I'm good for 48 hours.

Not sure about specific products, but as general advice make sure to give her a comprehensive guide (vocally) of hygiene... I think sometimes we take some of this knowledge for granted, and you want to make sure she is using deodorant etc daily.

I've gone for H&S for greasy hair, and the Aussie spray leave in conditioner, and dry shampoo in between times, so we'll see how we go. As for hygiene, I remind her every morning to apply deodorant, and she also has one of those that you apply after a shower at night and it supposedly works/forms some kind of barrier while you're inactive/sleeping, ready for the following day.
