Clothes for boy about to go into year 7

Ds is out-growing all his clothes. Was planning on waiting until he was in year 7, but need to bite the bullet before he starts looking really bizarre.

So what do your sons of this age wear? (Am concious that we're getting to that "clothes matter" age.) Could do with steering clear of uber-expensive labels if possible.

Won't be buying any more until he's outgrown this next lot - except for birthday / Christmas. And want him to blend in (unlike my own childhood Grin).

Can't go wrong with H &M IMO

Yup, H&M, Next and Laredoute were the main source for my boys at that age - stylish and fashionable without being ott expensive. I was never a fan of kids being dressed in sportswear so mine were mainly chino/jeans/shorts and t shirts and zipper hoody stuff.

If he has no personal view then just look about at what his friends are wearing/other boys that age etc.

His friends are all into sports gear. The older boys we see around are all skinny jeans, tshirts and zipper hoodies. Given a choice ds would go for comfort everytime preferably with no buttons or zips to be seen (and def no jeans). Guess I need to search out a middle ground. Will have a look at the shops you recommend and have a think. Thanks for your help!

At the moment mine are 14 and 13 and their "go to" outfits for mooching about are jersey shorts, t-shirt and zipper hoody (Superdry). The have a pair or two of jeans/trousers and smarter t-shirts/polo shirts for going out (i.e. with us for lunch/dinner) in.

Hope you find something that suits - H&M jersey shorts are great - DS2 is on his 4th year of wear on some we bought for 1.99! - he has grown about a foot in height in that time too :)

Here there is a sort of 'uniform' of plain zipped hoodie, retro/ironic t-shirt, skinny jeans and canvas shoes. Y10 boy shops at ASOS/Primark, Y8 boy doesn't care where his clothes come from, Y6 boy just wants to look 'swag'. Grin

Gap outlet is your friend, along with H&M. DS would live in jersey shorts given the chance.

My boy is in year 7 and very fashion conscious.
Standard uniform of skinny jeans (a tenner in Next online Clearance), hoodies from Gap, Next or H&M and he likes a "label" polo shirt - I get original penguin or Ralph in sales from M&M direct or Get the Label. Likes anything Superdry, Converse, Hype, Bench, Adidas or Nike - again, look at M&M direct or Get the Label for bargains.
He likes Converse and any footwear from Next.
He always looks smart and immaculate - and although he's into labels, I find there are always online bargains.

My Y7 boy doesn't seem to care what he wears - so it's mainly Tesco & Asda! As he is tall for his age he is hitting the top of their kids wear so I'll be shopping elsewhere for him soon.
