Hi, DD has started mentioning things lie she wants flat tummy and thinks her sticks out, boys at school like the girl with long blond hair and blue eyes etc

She has got a bit teary at times, and I have always done my best to talk about how beautiful she is, how popular she is with lots of friends, tell her she is a perfectly normal shape, as is her tummy, and how pictures in books and on tv can be manipulated so ladies she looks at don't always look the same in real life.

Are there any good books for 7 yr olds about body image, confidence, growing up etc?

My beautiful DD (7) is very self-concious. She has quite dark olive skin and light brown hair that's straight and halfway down her back. Apparently brown hair is boring but hers is in much better condition and is glossier than the clone-like fair skinned, semi blonde, wavy hair and blue eyes. Hers are hazel that also change to a dramatic green and has amber flecks in them. She hates her eyes as girls in her class have asked why they are more than one colour and she hates being questioned on her appearance. She's thin so doesn't have a weight issue but the worst part is her beauty spot beneath her eye that is so unique but "not normal" to a group of particularly judgey seven year olds.

I'm also looking for books and/or websites that will help DD and if I find any I will post on this thread as I know how hard it is to what your little girl hate herself and appearance.

I have a book called lets talk about sex by Robie H Harris and Michael Emberley in hard back. My mum bought it for me when I was 9 or 10 my dd 7 looks at it now. It's a very good book.
