Thanks Only good mothers worry that they might be the world's worst mother. Truly bad ones could care less. When you're both calm, sit down with your daughter and talk this through. Everybody makes mistakes and it's important for kids to realise that parents are just human.

Thanking lastinglight for your kind words. we have had a chat and are both still upset.I often wonder is it just me and her that argue,is it a normal part of growing up? x

Oh believe me it's not just you. My dd is almost 12 and we occasionally have almighty rows. I end up screaming at her and then, as you said, feel like the worst mother in the world. Don't kids have the most amazing ability to suss out your buttons and then push them mercilessly? Parenting is not for the faint hearted!

Hand hold. It is not just you ( but we are not 'normal) I cannot tell you how much it means to read others have days like this too.

Thankyou everybody it is nice to talk to other parents. When we had a chat after carming down i tried to explain how it esculates and how it gets out of hand from something so simple? Does anyone have any tips on that?

I have the male version ANL, we do sometimes have horrible rows. Sometimes all i have to say is 'go and have a shower, it's bedtime' and he erupts. Then it escalates, and everyone is cross, and me sounding like a 12 year old myself. Blush

Nowadays I just say to him 'I have nothing more to say until you have a shower' for instance. Totally disengage and take yourself away from the situation-it's the only way.
