DD2 (12) tried to kiss her teacher !

My DD(12) tried to kiss her teacher at school yesterday. Her teacher reported it to the head of year and the head called us to tell us what happened. She has a crush on this teacher (she told her sister - who told me ) and has done for a while . What do I do ?

Let her talk to you about her feelings, can you share with her your young teen crushes? It will help her to understand her emotions better. Your poor dd how embarrassing for her! But she is not alone, her behaviour is very normal, she just needs to understand boundaries and how crushes effect us during those turbulent teen years.

I had a major crush on my teacher when I was about 13. I genuinely thought I was in love with him and that he was in love with me.

I cringe looking back on it, but at the time it was very intense and all-consuming.

Talk to her. Tell her that inappropriate crushes are normal but explain the reasons why acting on them is a bad idea. Maybe start an activity together that will take her mind off him and concentrate her energies elsewhere?

Wee lamb, she is going to be feeling very embarrassed.
