What time is bed time - 12 year olds?

Just wondering what time other 12 year olds go to bed. My daughter seems happy enough to go up between 9-9.30pm since she's been back at school. Her friends bedtimes are everywhere, 8.30pm, 9pm, 10pm and 10.30pm.

My 12yo is an awful sleeper, always had trouble with insomnia etc. I let her go to sleep when she wants, as I know how frustrating it is to lie there tossing and turning. She has normally dropped off by 10.30/11pm and gets up at 7.30am

My son is the same as your daughter Madmog - he is usually quite tired and heads off and showers about 9ish, reads a bit, and sloshes around til 930 ish, usually asleep by then. He does this himself, although I know some of his friends are up a lot later, but he has always been a 'sleeper'. He is a nightmare in the morning tho' -we usually wake him about 7.15 as he has to be in school by 830 and its about a 20 minute walk. He is usually showered, had breakfast and ready to go out the door by 8ish, but I have usually generated plenty of 'electricity' by then

DS goes up around 9.30. I try to get him to go up around 9 once or twice a week it dont always manage.

He gets up at 7.30 and we try to leave the house just after 8.

Seems like my daughter is about average then. Funnily enough a couple of her friends who go to bed later, are the ones who have to get up earlier as they leave further away from the school.

I had to be in bed by 9pm - it got increased to about 9pm once I hit my teens and 10pm at the very very latest once I was 15!

8.30-9 for dc1. She gets up about 7-7.30 and has a 5-10 minute walk to school. I have no idea about her friends but we are the closest to school so they all come here before and after school

Dc2 is my non sleeper, he is regularly still awake 11ish when I go to bed despite no iPod/DS after tea or TV in his room. He just gets into books and can't sleep just like me

Mine is nearly 12. Official bedtime 9pm, but it's set deliberately that way because she fannies about until approaching 9.30. Alarm goes off at 7am.

Dd goes to bed between 9 and 9.30, but reads for quite a while. She has never gone to sleep early, she is often still awake when we go to bed at 11. She gets up at 7.30. She does lie in at the weekend.

Dd is 12 and has always been a night owl. It's pointless her going to bed too early as she'll lie there tossing and turning. For secondary she has to be up by 6.45am so I like her upstairs by 9pm but she's often still awake at 10.30, sometimes later.

She catches up at weekends!

mine goes up 8.30 lights out usually 9ish... but has to be up at 6.30 to get to school..... Lies in til 9.30am on a Sunday.. but we have no set bedtime on Fri/Sat...

9pm, this is because she has to be up at 6am to leave at 7am for school. I do know she doesn't always go straight to sleep, but I'm trying to keep to that time.

I went to bed last night at 11 and my just turned 13 year old was still awake even though he's had lights out at 10 - says it takes him ages to get to sleep. I could then hear my 12 year old still tossing and turning too. :(

some of their activities don't finish until after 9 so they aren't home until quarter to 10 two evenings a week and just before 9 on a third evening. Theoretically we have a 10pm lights out but we don't always stick to that and actually if they are then tossing and turning it's hardly a restful sleep anyway. They get up at about 7.30 and always get up first call but are getting a bit grumpy and tired. Maybe it's just their hormones. They always shower in the morning rather than in the evening. No screens after activities and on the evenings they have no activities then screens are usually off at 8.30.

They go to be later at the weekend, but still get up around 8am.

My 12yr old DD goes to bed at 10pm and gets up at 6.45 soo gets around 8-9 hours sleep. Shes very hyper though, so would never get her to sleep before 10pm.
