Ideas for a 13th Birthday Party???

My DD is turning 13 next month and would love a party to celebrate hitting the teen years but has no idea what she would like. I've suggested ice skating, tree runners, swimming etc but she's not overly excited by these. I need to be a budget conscious too but really would like to make it a special event. She has just done her first year at secondary school and has a small circle of friends but hasn't done a huge amount of socialising with them outside school so apart from one or two, I don't know these girls well at all. Any ideas gratefully received!!

My Daugher went to a "Miranda" theme party last week - they all had 'such fun' and made fruit friends !! Totally bonkers ! But they are 12 and thought it was hilarious !! Worth a thought ?!?!

When my DD turned 13 she took 5 friends out (so 6 of them in total) to see a movie and they all came back to our house. We ordered pizzas, had cake and the girls had a proper girly sleepover - nail painting, face masks, popcorn and other unhealthy snacks! She really enjoyed it!

Thanks for the suggestionS, DD really likes Miranda so worth thinking about! I think i'm heading towards a houseful of gigging girls!

Lol at Miranda party!

My DD took 2 friends to the theatre to see Hairspray for her 13th birthday party, we went for a pizza first. We gave her the option of 6 friends to go ice skating or swim/slide pool and then a meal or 2 friends for a bigger treat.

She has been to bowling, skating, cinema parties and sleepovers tend to be generally popular. One friend hired a room in a Japanese restaurant with a personal chef!! They loved that! Another friend had a karaoke party at a club with non-alchoholic cocktails.

I think they are just happy to enjoy each others company.

Personal Japanese Chef!!!! Birthday parties have gone to a whole new level!!!

One way or another i'm sure she'll have fun!

My dd1 was 13 last February.

She chose her favourite place to eat (an independent cafe/restaurant), then she + 3 friends came home from school together. The all got ready (cue huge amounts of giggling and loud music) and I put them in a taxi to said venue. Taxi firm and venue very happy with this. Helps that venue is a place dh and I go fairly regularly for breakfast.

They had main course and dessert then dh called in on his way home from work at about 8.30, paid the bill and brought them back for a sleepover.

They'd gone a bit overboard on the Irn Bru but all slept on the floor in the lounge after watching a film/doing nails etc.

Dd1 wants same again for her 14th!!

Not sure how many your daughter wants to invite, how many you'd be prepared to have, but how about a sleeover onesie party. They could watch a DVD, have pizza and have loads of sweets later on. Last year when my daughter had two friends for a birthday sleepover I gave them a white pillow case each to decorate themselves and add messages for eachother with fabric pens from Amazon. They took ages over this, so a good thing for keep them occupied after tea.

Recent parties we have been to... Karaoke room for 10 girls - cost £30 as was a deal on groupon, LaserTag, cinema, DIY pizza party, cupcake decorating, jewellery making, DVD/pizza/popcorn and girlie beautifying, bowling.

Some great ideas, she's still dithering about what she'd like but i'm fairly sure sleepover is going to be involved, like the idea of sending a little group for an independent dinner party, I think she'd love feeling so grown up! Would have to chose the venue carefully!!

alpinemeadow the jewellery was bracelet kits - we could have had the lady come to us to do it, but I felt that we could do the making on our own. The pizza one was a home based party. The cupcakes was a local cupcake lady and we went to a venue and she came with all her bits and bobs. There are a couple of companies who offer this locally.
Have also had a decopatch party -where the girls decorated a photo frame or lidded box each which was then used for a couple of nail varnishes etc when they went home.

The ones that didnt want to do a charm bracelet did some of the accessories for phones, pencil cases etc.

I'm interested in the miranda party (sorry for the hijack) for my soon to be 12 year old.

What would you do at the party? what sort of things could they get up to?

This would go down great in my house if I could pull it off.

I am passing the key pad to my 12 year old who went to the Miranda party .... hello. we all had to dress up and pretend to be a certain character ( we all choose at school before the invites were written) and then when we got there we had to act like the person we were supposed to be. which was funny as we couldn't remember who choose who and do we had to guess . We were given t shirts to write on . So we added our 'catch phrases' on the t shirts . we had to stand up and tell everybody 'what we had done to make yourself proud' that was funniest as we had to make up something to fit in with our character. some were a bit rude ! we had tea and cupcakes and other cakes and crisps . and fizzy drinks served in cocktail glasses like we were at the bar . then we made fruit friends to play ( with googlie eyes and stick legs and pipecleaners ) and we took them on the trampoline , but not the ones with the sharp legs . it was really fun and I want a Miranda themed party next year now too. I am 12 and I think any kid my age would have fun at a Miranda party.
