Do they sleep more when they grow?

DD is 9 and has already grown 4cms in the summer holidays. She has never been a child who has needed much sleep, drop afternoon nap at two, two years of hell from 3.5 to 5.5 of waking every morning at 5.30am at the latest etc.
However, 3 or 4 days a week she will nap in the afternoon for about an hour and a half. She goes to bed at the normal time Monday to Friday I have to wake her at 7am.
Is this just growing? Or should I be concerned?

Does she seems healthy in other ways, I mean when she's not asleep, if so there's probably nothing to worry about

To answer your question yes kids do need more sleep when they are growing, one reason why teens sleep more but I don't know about during the day. It might be worth just checking with your GP or school nurse to put your mind at rest.
