Kissing is revolting.

I am not worried about this, but my dd HATES kissing. She fusses over a simple kiss goodnight and wil not let anyone kiss her without letting everyone know how she feels about it.

She says saliva is disgusting and it is smelly and feeling horrible, and 'it is not an act of love' . I don't get where this has come from because her sister LOVES kisses.

I have told her that it is a good idea to tolerate a simple kiss if someone gives her one by accident, without fuss, but that we will give her cuddles and avoid kisses.

I just want o know if any other children have the same repulsion, and if it went away?

You are not alone, my DD1 is just the same. She is 15 in a few days time and I can not remember a time after toddlerhood that she would tolerate kisses.

The memory that really sticks out is the residential trip (5 days) she went on in year 5. Being the youngest in her class, she was 9. All the other children hugged and kissed their mothers some even cried, mine made such a fuss it just didn't happen.

Now she is a teen she asks for hugs on the days she wants to a child again and growing up seems scary. But kisses are a no no.

Like you I have a younger DD who is loving, cuddly and loves kisses.

You haven't done anything wrong. You just have daughters with different characters.

I'm not keen on kissing tbh, even DH really.

Thanks fortified and aunt, despite saying I am not worried about it ( and I'm really not, just interested!) I was touched to read... You haven't done anything wrong! I mean what if she had been traumatised by a horrible kiss? Yeuch! I would feel terrible!

My DD (9) is same. Loves hugs hates kisses. I nearly faint when she plants one on my cheek!

My son is the same he is 6. If you try and get near him he runs away which actually has it's uses sometimes. We manage one a day which we save for bed time but we try not to make a fuss about it in hope that he will change. My daughter on the other hand will grab your face and plant one on your cheek without even asking.

I 'grew out' of kisses when I was around 8 or 9 and politely asked mum to stop giving me bedtime kisses.

As an adult, I'm afraid I am still not a natural kisser.

My DD (9) lets me kiss her on the top of her head - on her hair. She says being kissed on the cheek is "yucky"
