How do you know when to your dd need a bigger bra?

Dd just turned 12 done the crop top moved to simple bras got to tight round the band so took her to new look tried several pair and went with what seened the best fit.

Just started to notice that dd looking more busty but only when not wearing a bra (ie swim suit or nightie). How do you know when to move up a cup size and is their any thing wrong with wearing a bra that maybe a little small, as dd very happy with her currant bras.

move up a cup size when there is bulging of breast tissue out of the current bra. You would need to check the fit while she has the bra on as you wont be able to judge it properly without it being worn.

Dd let see this morning no bulges yet but look very near so will start to plant the idea of new bras. Really likes the ones shes hates shopping in less it's certain clothes shop or acessories.

Ok I've been loosing weight so need new bras, so took dd with me got her measued for the first time. She came up as a 34aa she was found a bra which looked much bigger then her current bra yet hers was 32a. Fits really well and dd said the felt much better. So from now on will get her measured and the guidelines was to be checked every 6months, except if shes had a growth spur and she needs a new bra before then.

where did you get her measured as some places still add extra inches to the back size they measure e.g. M&S and therefore have a back size that is too big and a cup size that is too small. Do you have a measuring tape to see what her measurements are? Does she look as if the measurement around the fuller part of the bust would be the same as the measurement under the bust as that what an AA cup size means?

The under bust measurement is the actual back size i.e. if she measures 30" under the bust then that would be the back size for the bra. You then calculate the cup size by the difference between the over bust measurement and the under bust measurement e.g. if over bust was 32" and under bust was 30" then the bra size would be 30B (each inch means a bigger cup size so 1" diff = A, 2" = B, 3" = C, etc)

34 does sound quite big for a 12yo. I am 5'8" with wide shoulders and I'm a 34 (36 for comfort).

If you have a tape measure at home just measure around under her breasts. That measurement (in inches) should be the number part of her bra size. Don't add anything to it! If you went to M&S they are notoriously crap measurers (I'm a 32FF and they tried to make me a 36C! Just no!) so double check. Hope it all goes well - a well fitting bra makes such a difference.

If your daughter has any breasts at all she is not a AA. AA means her under and over bust measurements are identical.

I really don't know how it all works all i know is the bra had fitted fits really well and dd very happy. She has a small bust and its a lightly padded bra and their are cups not just flat cups. Shes about 5'3-5'4 but she has a tall person build been broard arcoss the shoulders and chest plus she is a swimmer. Again all i know on the loosest fitting the band has a good snug fit.

I get that she has to be happy with it, I too happily wear the wrong size according to MNers. And she hates shopping so last thing you want is the hassle of taking her out again, It's just that 34AA sounds very very wrong.

You can get free returns on a lot of bras, so you could measure up at home, order a load at the probably right size and she could try on at home, then return any that don't suit.

Not wishing to chuck a spanner in, but my 11, nearly 12 yr old is now in a 34. She is only a couple of inches shorter than me and could easily wear my clothes.

She didn't want to be measured either in-store or at home and having started with 28AA 18 months ago (ish) is now in 34 A

In your case I would do as suggested and order some to try at home.
