smelly armpits...7 year old!!

As the title suggests 7 year old dd has smelly armpits. It seems everso young. I was wanting to get others experiences. Does this signal the start of puberty?? It means hormones are afoot obviously...but does it follow that hair/boobs/periods are to follow soon???

Or is it really not indicative of the rest of her development?

It is indicative of the beginning of puberty but that doesn't mean she'll start her periods particularly earlier than her peer group. The most difficult task ahead of you is making sure she wears deodorant and keeps the area clean when bathing. She's mentally too young to care so it'll be up to you to remind her, and remind her, and remind her ..... My dd started with bad body odour at 6 and started her periods at 11. She also developed pubic hair pretty early on but even now, a year later, her boobs are nothing to write home about. Try not to worry but if you are, take her to the doctors and ask them for a referral to a paediatrician for hormone and bone density tests. They'll be able to tell you whether she may have precocious puberty.

DD1 had smelly armpits at about that age. Bought her deodorant from Holland & Barratt and made sure she used it. Helped for a couple of years but then needed something stronger. Not sure whether indicative of early puberty. She's 11 and hasn't started her periods yet but has hair.

My daughter had v pongy pits at age 6-7. She's nearly 8 now and at present it's not happening so can't put my finger on why it happened. Can't imagine she's anywhere near starting puberty. She used a deodorant for a while which helped but I'm a bit stricter regards personal hygiene now so maybe that's helping.

my ds goes through phases when his sweat smells adult pongy rather than kid pongy and then it stops.

I became much more vigilant about baths and showers, and clean T-shirts every day (he used to wear them for 2 days if no food spills)

I think it is early hormone cycles so it comes and goes.
He is now 10 and has developed a teenage love of long showers every morning when he should be getting ready for school!
