Tips on boosting self confidence?

Am worried about dd (11). She is Infact a confident young girl, popular and clever. However just lately she has begun bowing down to peer pressure. An example, her winter coat from last year still fits and at the start of October she was more than happy to wear it. It seems someone at school has passed comment on it making her look fat (this couldn't be further from the truth btw) and now she is hankering after designer gear, SuperDry and such like. I don't intend to start buying designer stuff to please her friends or where will it end? I could just do with some comebacks for her to say when on the receiving end of this type of bitchiness. This morning she refused to wear her coat saying she diesn't get cold.

Oh, tricky.
I had this problem with DS today as he was told that his boots were "girl boots". They are not, they are biker boots. He doesn't want to wear his boots to school now.
Can you look and see if you can find a pic of a cool person wearing a similar coat? Like Katy Perry, or the twilight whatsername.
Comebacks are difficult, if she does not believe in what she is saying, and actually would like a "designer" coat. Do you think she does, or is it truly peer pressure.
Does she have friends who are similar to her?

Thank you for replying I don't think she does want designer clothes as until starting secondary school had no idea about brands, I expect it is all about fitting in? Just hope we can find another way for her to be happy as herself because I certainly can't afford to keep her kitted out with whatever brand is flavour of the month. Hope your Ds is ok, kids can be horrible to each other can't they?!

You could try TK Maxx with her. It is a bit of luck if you happen to find something there, but they do sometimes have good bargains on designer kit.

Really bitchy would be 'oh my coat makes me look fat, well you are fat!'
