Unrestricted and unsupervised access to YouTube for a 10/11 year old (Yr 6) - yes or no?

our pc and laptop are downstairs so no chance of them going on youtube without me noticing (they do go on it sometimes to watch stupid horse stuff or harry potter puppet pals)

No!

There's too much stuff on there that you wouldn't want your kids to see. My DD (nearly 10) is not allowed on it unless i'm there.

My nephew's high school blocks the school's computers from You Tube so they must feel that even 11-18 years olds shouldn't have unlimited access.

No, absolutely not.

I did wonder if this thread was to do with schools - DS and his friends used to use the ICT suite during wet playtimes and managed to circumvent the schools IT protection so they could access youtube. I had words with the Head who refused to believe that they could so their unsupervised access continued [hangry]
