Early Learning Goals

Hi, we've just been given my daughter's final report from preschool and in it they have circled 'ELG' or '40-60' for her Early Learning Goals. Am I right in thinking that '40-60' refers to months and 'ELG' means that she's reached the goal? I can't find anything clear online and was wondering before I speak to her play leader in the week.

I presume that the ELG means that she is working towards early learing goals.

At my DD's pre-school they produce a EYFS profile - this is 13 (?) areas with 9 points in each one. norm for end of pre-school is to have completed 3 points in each area.

Sounds like your report is somewhat different though - probably you do need to talk to someone at her preschool.

ELGs are the level above 40 - 60 months which all children should be supported to achieve before the end of their reception year. If it says ELG she must have met it.

Your daughter is obviously doing very well.

If you ask your playleader she should be able to show you a copy of the practice guidance which contains the stepping stones (set at different ages in months) and the Early Learning Goals.
