When to register?

Hi,

I have a daughter which is 3 months old.
There is a very good school just a 5 minute walk from our house but apparently it is very difficult to obtain places.

When should I send in application for preschool nursery?

Sorry for asking such a silly question but I am oriignally from Switzerland and there is only one school in our place and no admission etc etc.

You need to ask the nursery as it does vary. Private nurseries will probably put her name down now whereas state nurseries might not take applications until the year before she is to start. But you do need to ask.

If the local school is a state school, going to the pre-school nursery will most likely make no difference in obtaining a place - ask them for their acceptance criteria (probably organised via the LEA).
